The main benefits of producing vegetables from seed are cost and the availability of a huge range of varieties, not available as young plants, or as produce from the supermarket. Some people go on about the health benefits of grow your own, but I will leave this to them. I personally think that having a wide range of types is more important, as you are much more likely to think to yourself that you want and enjoy cooking and eating vegetables that you have produced yourself, particularly if you are able to vary what you grow and harvest. No longer do you have to put up with the tiny selection of vegetables in the supermarket, why not try growing that weird red bean or knobbly broccoli, or pick some fresh spinach or custard courgette, it is easier than you think. Plant to plate in minutes, let the supermarkets try to beat that! The opportunities are limitless. Please note that there are other categories containing other vegetables, we have too many to put in one place! If you cannot find what you are looking for use the search box on the left hand side.
