Broccoli is a poorly understood vegetable. it is a member of the cabbage family which provides us with a number of healthy vegetables. The part we tend to eat is the flowerhead. For those of you wondering what the difference is between broccoli and cauliflower, there is very little, other than appearance, as they are closely related cultivars, some such as the Italian Romanesco are often put in either group. The other similar crop are the turnip tops which are a different variety but are often called broccoli and used in the same ways. All are rich in nutrients and vitamins particularly vitamin C, provided they are steamed rather than boiled! for my purpose I have grouped them together here.
